Imbalance between taxis and rideshare numbers & costs

Unregulated number of ACT rideshare vehicles and unfair taxi insurance costs

Taxis industry in ACT is in a terrible state since the introduction of commercial ridehsare and crashing of ACT taxi leases from $20,000 down to $5,000 for ACT taxi owners in 2017 to 2022 and plate values have spiraled downwards from $275,000 to $20,000! This non-level playing field is the top of the iceberg when one considers the excessively high taxi insurance (CTP) insurance premiums.
