About ACT Taxi Owners

ACT Taxi Plate Owners Association.

Taxi Licence Owners in ACT are now seeking a formal partial buyback from ACT Government. This is in response to heavy losses in income and plummet in value of taxi licences.

Licence holders in the ACT taxi industry are suffering incredible losses both financially and emotionally since  the introduction of new unregulated ride-sharing apps such as UBER. This is not an equal level playing field with flooding of the market with new service providers.

taxi loss sad man

The introduction of legislation for unregulated commercial rideshare has had a profound negative impact on taxi owners, operators and drivers. Specifically, taxi owners have invested their life savings in ACT Taxi Industry unaware of the devastating decision made by the ACT State Government to legalise commercial rideshare. No consultation nor any controlled implementation strategy been applied by the ACT State Government with this legalisation causing serious unwarranted financial and emotional hardship to taxi licence owners.
