Politicians fighting for Taxi plate Owners, Operators and Drivers

ACT Liberal Party will fight to force the ACT Labor Government to commit to its moral obligation, to provide just and rightful compensation for its own actions in the legalised destruction of the ACT Taxi Industry by imposing unjust and biased conditions within the ACT Transport Legislation. The Legislation currently in force limiting taxi incomes and lack of regulation of the number commercial rideshare, vehicles have severely impacted the lives of taxi plate owners, operators and drivers throughout ACT. In 2023, the Liberal Party declared its support for the ACT Taxi Plate Owners Association (ACTTPOA). Liberal Party recognise ACTTPOA (ACT Taxi Plate Owners Association) as the only face and force of the ACT Taxi Industry’s resurrection. We shall work together to reunite the Taxi Industry and introduce appropriate regulation of the ride-share industry to achieve an equitable and fair working environment as originally promised but never honoured. We believe that everyone in Australian Capital Territory – including small taxi business owners and operators – deserve fair and equitable treatment.
