Meeting with NSW Transport Minister

The Chairman Geoff Ferris & CEO Martin Rogers met with the NSW Transport Minister – David Elliott this afternoon (25th October, 2022), to continue discussions regarding the inadequacies of the current proposed package.

The Minister was fully aware of the success of the Peaceful Taxi Protest last week, the number of MP’s in attendance and the overwhelming cross party support for a better deal for the Taxi industry.

The Transport Minister is actively considering the concerns of the industry and advocating on our behalf to the Premier and Treasurer for a better deal.

We need your assistance today

This next week is a critical week for our industry and we really need everyone to dig deep.

The Transport Minister has requested that you actively engage with your local MP (in particular Liberal and National Party MP’s) and ask your MP to send immediately a letter directly to the Premier and Deputy Premier, stating that a better deal is required for the Taxi industry.

As we said in our last communications, show your local MP the videos from the protest and the significant cross party support we have.

Mention also Ray William’s comments saying, “that full market value prior to the introduction of rideshare should be paid to all licences”.

The Taxi Council has today written to each MP in both the Lower and Upper house, detailing the success of the peaceful protest. However there is no better conversation with a local MP than from their own local constituent, that is you.

If you arrange a meeting and would like support, let us know and Martin will look to join and support you.

Don’t stop calling until you get a meeting with them.

Local MP’s are there to support their constituents and this is the time you need their support and active advocacy.
