| The limited information from the ACT Government regarding the further assistance package has created confusion amongst the industry.
Amounts being reported by the media have varied, such as each Regional Taxi Licence receiving $130,000 and Metro Licences receiving $600,000.
This is not correct.
The reported “up to $130,000” in Regional NSW has also left many Licence owners unsure of what that actually means for them.
The proposed package details as per the media release from NSW Government are as follows:
Metropolitan Sydney:
$100,000 per licence (up to 6 licences)
Regional NSW:
Up to $130,000 per licence with no cap on the number of licences.
However, for Regional NSW, we understand verbally that the proposed package actually has Regional NSW areas allocated into 4 different payment bands, with amounts ranging from a low of $25,000 up to $130,000 per licence.
We are seeking further details of the proposed package and have requested Transport for NSW and the NSW Government to provide official documentation on the area allocations, how the areas were assigned and the amounts for each region.
We need more detail than just the media release. This is so Taxi Licence owners can fully understand what the proposed package means for them.
As it stands the proposed package falls short and has left members disappointed, deflated and confused.
We want to see the details of the package and the proposed regulations. As at the moment all that has been released is the media release, which contained limited information.
